Website Migration
-
Q: What exactly does web site migration imply and what does it involve?
A: When your present web hosting provider can no longer measure up to the requirements of your site, or if you experience frequent network downtime, or if you have to wait for hours for the customer care team to respond to you, it might be a good idea to swap your provider, i.e. to move all the files for your web sites together with your databases from your current provider to your future provider. At 101 Hosting, we are aware that this can be hard and time–consuming. That is why we’ll perform all that for you for free! Our highly knowledgeable technical staff will move your website content from your current web hosting provider to us. Our technicians have a lot of experience with web site migration and are able to handle everything – from a common WordPress–powered weblog or Joomla™ website, to a very complex, custom–made web application.
-
Q: How much time will it take for my website to be moved to your platform?
A: We strive to accomplish all website migrations as fast as possible. Even so, we do not have a set time frame for website migrations. There are several elements that you need to consider – the mere size of your website and the workload of our web site migration staff, etc. We always try to accomplish each migration in less than 48 hours. With smaller web sites, our team typically manages to finish within 24 hours.
-
Q: My privacy is essential for me. What details do you need?
A: Yes. We will require the name of the website that you would like us to move. We will also require a way to log into your present hosting account so that we can get the files pertaining to your site.
-
Q: My old hosting account has sensitive data inside. How can I rely on you?
A: Our Privacy Policy is an indivisible part of the agreement that we’ll have with you as a customer. We are dedicated to protecting the security of the personal info obtained from the clients. To accomplish this, we employ technical safety measures so as to prevent the loss, the abuse, the alteration or the unauthorized leakage of the private info under our control. The safety measures include, but are not limited to: physical, electronic and managerial methods to protect and secure the info that we obtain online. When we request clients to provide financial info (for instance, a debit card number), this info is protected using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption technique.
-
Q: What about downtime? Will my site be unavailable?
A: Your website will work exactly like it did before with your former hosting provider. When we are through with the transfer, your website will be configured to work on our platform and we’ll alert you to preview it. If it is functioning correctly, all you will have to do is modify the name server records associated with your domain name. Your web site will be transferred over to us without any downtime whatsoever.
-
Q: Will my present web hosting provider discover that I’m leaving them?
A: Nope. Aside from your login info for the Control Panel, we do not need anything. We’ll never touch base with your hosting provider. They will not know anything about the transfer either.
-
Q: Which web hosting providers can you migrate website content from?
A: We support all Linux–powered web hosting platforms. Fundamentally, if we can gain access to your Control Panel, we will be able to transfer your web site. The only platforms that we don’t support are closed–source website building platforms such as Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square, Mr Site, etc.
